Pokot People

A people straddling the Kenya-Uganda border, in a very isolated part of Africa.  With a different language from the Karimajong,  they keep cattle and raid for more from the neighbouring Mathenika.

Kosiroi is a growing community, where people eak out a living by mining mineral rocks from surface seems.  They sell their piles of rocks to a cement company that sends trucks from an industrial area in Tororo, hundreds of kilometres south.

There are approximately 8,000 people living in Kosiroi in basic huts (pictured).  We want to help the indigenous pastors provide a place of worship for the Christians in this community, where there is no other church present.

Prostitution and alcoholism are a problem in this area.  We believe that the Good News of Jesus can change a person's heart and behaviour, bringing greater harmony to their community living.
