There are many children in Africa who are genuinely seeking their Creator for his help to get an education and some food in their belly.
It is ironic that children in poorer nations who cannot afford an education so desparately want it. We are trying to make a difference in the lives of specific children and so to make a difference to the plight of the African children in some small way. Below you will find the stories of some of the children we are seeking to support.
We would love you to join us in supporting a child. You can make a difference with relatively little. Contact us through your nearest MV office for further information on how you can support an African child.
Stephen
Stephen is 9-years-old and has three sisters who all live in Gulu, northern Uganda. Their parents John and Florence have both died from HIV/Aids. After they died he went to live with an Uncle. Stephen became sick and the uncle claimed that the boy had Aids. Stephen was proven HIV negative and does not have Aids but the uncle was looking for an excuse to abandon him to the care of his grandmother.
This is such a common story - Old, poor and unable to work - grandparents take on the care of children with all its concerns about education, feeding and health. Due to a severe lack of resources, he has only managed to complete the first year of primary school and part of the second year. He will have to repeat his second year.
Stephen is a healthy boy in need of a good education. He loves to play football and would like to be a teacher one day.
Dickson
Dickson, like so many African boys, now finds himself in an extended family of inconvenience due to the untimely death of a parent. He is in the care of an unemployed uncle who has ten other children to look after. How does one define an orphan when so many children in Africa have fallen into the arms of destitute relatives?
His school reports show that he is a bright boy who needs to be able to get on with his studies without distraction; not worrying about school fees and being sent home due to non-payment. His favorite subject at school is mathematics. He would like to be a footballer or a pilot when he grows up. Such high hopes, such normal aspirations. Such a challenge!
Julianne
Julianne is 6 years old. She is an only child from Monica. Julianna’s father Bernard died in a tree felling accident. Shortly after the accident, Monica abandoned Julianne to the care of her grandmother, Olga. Both parents were HIV positive and Monica later died from Aids.
Julianne began her education but due to lack of funds was unable to complete the year and will now have to start again. Julianne likes to play and draw, and would one day like to be a Doctor.
