The Great Debate
Imams and Sheiks had stirred up hatred in Kyotera from their platform in the market square for a solid three weeks, ranting against the Christians. By the time we arrived, the entire town was cowering under the tyrade of abuse against the Bible and the Lordship of Christ.
They were preaching, teaching and publicly circumcising boys and men to Allah on the very spot where we were about to preach the Good News and power of Jesus Christ. They did not want to give up the platform to the “Born Agains”, but the town coucil had authorized our crusade.
The spot was the commercial town square, the very center of the city. Around 500 people were present every day to listen and see how we would counter the attack. The Muslims challenged Pastor Willy to a public debated on any subject he would choose. It happened on Tuesday afternoon. The subject: Jesus and the Bible.
By the end of Tuesday night, the antagonists went home with their tails between their legs. Not beause of the strength of our words but because of the power of God's Word. He proved Himself living and active and able to divide soul and spirit.
Muslims were saved, religious people were saved, sin was forgiven, people were delivered from demons, the sick were healed, and the glorious Gospel was preached in power by our Team. Witchdoctors and Satan worshippers were defeated in their efforts to bring confusion through the weather and the spiritual atmosphere. Satan was defeated! We did not hear one word from them the rest of the week. The lion's mouth was shut.
The Gospel is indeed "so glorious" as one of our team members said. We have a glorious Lord and Savior and we preach a glorious Gospel! That is why we shout glory! a GREAT debate!
