Hot Turkey and Plough
Americans associate turkey with Thanksgiving and the British with Christmas. Ugandans however, associate any kind of poulty with income generation, not to be eaten at home. As for the plough (plow, U.S.), it is the means to greater domestic food production.
Over the last two decades, the rebel insurgency in northern Uganda has left many Acholi people displaced from their homes and villages. Peace has finally been restored, and the sound of bullets and the fear of death have been replaced with the sound of hammers, building and laughter. As the people return to rebuild their homes and their communities, it is time for the church to rebuild.
We want to empower the people, assisting to maximize their talent and ability. According to their expressed desires, we have developed agricultural projects that include oxen for plowing and poultry raising for eggs and resale.

Pastors and Christian Leaders are responsible for spiritual leadership. They rarely have enough food to feed their families, causing great anxiety and hampering their call. Through these community development projects, we provide these leaders with the basic tools to improve their livelihoods. As leaders in the community, they can lead by example and train others. As their family’s basic income improves, they are free to work towards the spiritual growth of their church and community.
You can be personally involved to enhance the livelihood of a pastor and his family in northern Uganda. Help us buy an ox, or build a chicken house, or raise some turkeys. Contact your nearest office for further details.
