Trust Children's Centre
A project initiated by
Pastor Willy Tumwine and
Reach the World for Christ Ministries to deal with the growing plight of children in Mbarara.
Mbarara Town is the third largest in the country with an estimated population of 60,000 people.
The entire District has a population of around 1 million people growing at 3.4% per annum.
That gives us around 30,000 children; many in various types of family. There are estimated to be 10,000 street children in urban Uganda and 85% are homeless, leaving a significant number in Mbarara.
This ministry will serve genuine orphans and children ejected from poor families, living on the streets and scavenging on rubbish dumps of the town.
Children have abandoned rural life for many reasons and find themselves outside their original community support mechanism and vulnerable to crime, disease and death.
